Tricouni Press, based in Vancouver, B.C., is the occasional publishing venture of Glenn and Joy Woodsworth.  We publish books that tell stories that interest us and that we feel are worth publishing.

Because we do (most of) the editing, design, layout, and photo work in house, our overhead is low.  This allows us to publish titles that may not be considered viable by other publishers.  Indeed, one of our best-selling titles was rejected by several B.C. publishers because it was not deemed to be of broad enough interest (they were wrong).

Our books all have a British Columbia connection, either in subject matter or by being written by B.C. authors.

We are often asked about the derivation of the name “Tricouni Press.”  A tricouni is a kind of boot nail, originating in Italy about 100 years ago.  It has three distinctive points on it aligned in a row and had a better “bite” on snow and ice than previous designs.  Tricouni nails were standard on most mountaineering boots during the first half of the 20th century.  Near Whistler, B.C., there is a mountain that, from some angles, bears a striking resemblance to a tricouni boot nail; it was named Tricouni Peak by the 1931 first ascent party.  Our first book, published in 1993, was a guide to outdoor activities in the Whistler area. Hence Tricouni Press seemed like a good name: it was appropriate for the subject matter, unusual, and has a bit of mystery and bite to it.

We do not accept unsolicited manuscripts.
